I love you Rollie Bear ...We are coming home repaired!

Monday we will be going into surgery at 1 o’clock in the afternoon so both surgeries can be done together. With the entire testing we got here we can be confident of our choices. Debra will not have the hysterectomy but they will do other procedures that will make her life much better. She will have the gastric banding done first then the other. She’ll have some fillings repaired and a new porcelain crown. Her teeth will be totally restored before we leave this place. She’ll have her eye surgery on Aug 12 at another location. It’s located in the Rushabh Eye Hospital & Laser Center PVT.LTD/ 18th Road, Near Ambedkar Garden, Chembur, Mumbai so with arranged transportation we’ll get where we need to be when we need to be there in the safety of an escort. Trust me you want an escort to drive you anywhere if there is much distance involved. So in a few days Debra will be brand new with working parts. She is getting very testy now that they are drawing blood and giving shots. Not like the states where you get them all in that nice IV port nope here you get them in the rear.

After an over night stay in ICU or 24 hours how ever that works out she’ll be transported back to the room here on the seventh floor. We’ll stay here another 4 to 5 days for observation. At that time we are going to be moved to a hotel to await the eye and dentist work also to let her be in a more comfortable place than the hospital room. We will stay at “The Leela Kempinski Mumbai”. When our check out date comes they will make all the arrangements with the hotel and take us there. Giving us that nice discounted rate worked out with the hospital. Very Cool. Debra is not here for vacation I am afraid she’s not going to be enjoying too much but it is a lovely hotel. I hope I can get her walking and she’ll go down and sit by the pool in the evenings.

Well you will all be proud to know that I passed my psychological exams. I have been declared a fit mother and proper attendant. I will be allowed down stairs at the time of surgery. I will sit in the holding area or be returned to my room for further instructions.
They have ordered the surgery suite for 6 hours but do not expect the surgery to last that long. She’ll go to ICU directly after and I will not see her again until the 24 hours of observation have accrued. They do have a window I can peek at her through. I am to stay in our room for notifications. Sounds okay doesn’t it?

Well I found some things I can eat pretty decently. I love the morning porridge. Who ever thought I would be eating porridge. Another South Indian selection is the Masala Dosa with sambhar and coconut chutney. Ever hear of Uttapam? Well you can eat that here. Yap you can get you some baby pomfret marinated in mustard and deep-fried. Or there is Murgh Tawa, which is chicken marinated with saffron flavored yogurt and herbs, sautéed in a pan. Let’s not forget Mutton Curry and Mutton Muglai. For a veggie selection you can check out Palak Aap Ki Pasand or Bhindi do Pyaaza. Look it up on the Internet that’s dinner here. One I do like is Fish al Inglaise deep fried fish with tartar sauce with a side of French fries. They also have Fish Meuneire aka grilled fish with lemon butter. Not bad at all. Also, they have corn flakes with some kind of milk. I am not saying what kind but some kind. There is a ram on the front of the carton.

I am going out with my escort this afternoon to the mall. Debra will be undergoing a lot and they say it’s best if I step out for a while to let them conduct business. I am running like a rabbit. Something was said about shaving and other unpleasant things. She will be fine I have been told repeatedly. I am promised a pleasant afternoon of shopping and driving to sight see. I am really going to enjoy it as they are taking me to some of the best clothing stores in all of India. It will be a delight to go to the quaint shops and check out a fancy restaurant. We were going after the surgery but I have been encouraged to go today as well as after. They would send a nurse to the hotel if I requested it so that I can be free for some entertainment and hospitality of the country. Now that’s nice. I have pictures but can’t post them till I get to the hotel. I hope to go back and put them with the right post so the story line flows here. I am sure I will take a lot of them this afternoon.

I am the queen of the India dogs now I smuggle them out food and feed them but a problem has accured. Now they want to come with me everywhere I go including inside the hospital. They come right to the door but they know not to come inside so they whine and whine as I leave them. It’s sad. They are so thin and humble they are starving but they never snap for the food they take it very carefully and they make sure each gets some if there are two or three of them. There is a white one I would take home with me if I could.

Anyway that’s it for now I will be in touch again to tell of my shopping and give another update on the surgery. Be praying for Brad Wims as well I know they are off to Germany for more treatments. God be with them. Prayers are coming from Mumbai in their behalf. Also, if anyone could give me an update on Rikki Lanes husband James I would appreciate it. Praying for them from here as well. Love you all Vickie

I went to Sunday School today and got to talk to Rikki. She said that, (if I'm remembering rightly), the test results came back negative/normal on everything, but he's still having the tingling & numbness, so they'll keep looking. She had a copy of the new book for next quarter - on the life of Joseph. She'll be teaching the class w/Liz. She asked me to let you know that her prayers are with you two. :)
